ARONEL COTTAGE is a family-owned and run Rest Home in the Littlehampton area, with Registered Nurses on duty 24 hours a day.

We are proud to have been independently inspected as excellent and the winner of 2 national and 2 local business awards

The building has been extensively modernised and upgraded, with pleasant, south-facing well-maintained gardens. The rest home is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, close to the town centre, Hotham Park and public transport.

Having served the Littlehampton area for over 40 years, we try our best to have a cheerful, homely atmosphere.

A big thank you for all the care you gave to my wonderful mum Pamela while she was there.

I just wanted to thank you and your team for the care given to Mum for the short time that she was with you. From the time I walked in the door (without an appointment) I felt that this was where I wanted Mum to stay, and luckily a room was available for her. Everyone that she and I came into contact with showed great care, and nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks go to Robert, Katy and Jo, not forgetting Lori of course and Graeme, however all the carers showed great compassion and kindness.

I would highly recommend anyone to Aronel Cottage, for both residential and/or nursing care.

To all the staff, thank you for your excellent care and kindness, without the exceptional staff it would have been an even more difficult journey. R couldn’t have wished for more and for that we are so grateful to you all.

Dear Robert and all the staff, a massive thank you goes out to all those of you who worked so hard to take care of mum during her four year stay with you. In healthier times for keeping her weight up, against the odds!
She was mostly content and cheerful and loved to chat to anyone that had the time! And, of course, for the last four months, keeping her comfortable through her determination to stay with us. Lastly, thank you to all the staff who gave us the support we needed, at often difficult times.

Firstly I would like to thank you and your stafffor the care and attention you gave to my mother in the last six months. She was released from hospital on end of life care and was extremely frail. I am grateful to you all for looking after her and I am relieved that she has to suffer no more.

Dear Julian, thank you and your staff for all the care and kindness that you have given my aunt during her timewith you and especially in the last weeks of her life.

May i take this opportunity to say how much the family have appreciated the compassionate way in which mum has been so well looked after over the past few months as her health has deteriorated significantly.
Whenever she has had visits by family members, which fortunately have been frequent, the carers and all membersof staff have been so helpful with Robert always available to answer any questions and update us on mums condition.
When mum passed away Basil and your carers on duty at the time were so professional and understanding in dealing with my brother, cousin and myself, with nothing being too much trouble at such a difficult time.
If in the future any of the family are asked to recommend a nursing home locally, then without hesitation it would be Aronel cottage.

My brother and I appreciated you patience and kindness towards mum, particularly as she became increasingly frail and forgetful over the last few weeks of her very long life – just short of her 101st birthday!
Despite the challenges, mum at all times still managed to find humour in situations, and was always so positive about the care she was receiving – simple things like a kind word and a smile made all the difference to her well-being.
A special mention to those of you who were around during her last few hours – your kindness and understanding towards us all was most welcome. Keep up the good work – you are all amazing!

Adam and I would like to thank you all for the care you gave J, life had not been kind to him and being a very independent person he found the last few years hard to come to terms with, which at times made him difficult, but in his heart we know he appreciated everything that was done for him. We would also like to thank you for all the teas and coffees made for J’s visitors.

I would like to thank you for providing my mother with a room in your nursing home. The accommodation was first class and the care from the staff was excellent. I could not have wished for a better home for my mother.

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you and all of your staff for the kindness and understanding given to my mother during her brief stay at Aronel Cottage Nursing Home. I know that she was sometimes noisy and not always co-operative when your staff attended to her needs.

I arranged with Robert for my brother and I to clear all of my mother’s personal effects from her room with the exception of the portable TV and DVD’s. These items have been left behind, by way of a donation, for the benefit of one of your residents who does not currently have a TV in their room.

As a family we felt so welcome from the moment we walked through the door. Your warmth and shining smile wrapped around our family and we knew that this was the place where our brother should be.

So it transpired, along with the chef’s cooking; Robert’s excellent nursing and your houskeeping skills, you all gave us two and a half extra years with our brother.

We all love you to bits for being you.

Thank you very much for arranging the move Mum into her new room, without stress or strain. She seems very happy with the arrangement and has no issues with anything. I appreciate that it was hard work for all concerned and feel as though you made the transition smooth and easy for her.

Secondly, I’d like to say on behalf of Robbie and myself how relieved and grateful we were to find you at Aronel Cottage when we came looking for a safe and secure environment for our Mum, You’ve helped her so much and made her feel welcome and comfortable in a setting that we were struggling to come to terms with.

Thank you so much for forwarding the photos of Mum at the summer party – much appreciated. You can see everyone enjoyed the day in the garden and sun. We found it really lifted Mums mood, and it would be a chance for different groups to mix and get to know one another, as well as getting Vitamin D and fresh air.

I also wanted to say a huge thank you to you, and the Office staff Judith and all the Housekeeping ladies – who keep the Cottage homely, spotlessly clean and tidy (and smelling fresh), Graham and Kerry for all the lovely fresh meals, kindness and chats – Mum loved her food to the last lunch! Robert and the Nurses and Carers for their constant care, kindness, thoughtful touches, and sense of humour.

Everyone does a wonderful job, and it was a HUGE comfort to Dad and I to know Mum was in such good, caring hands, and to be welcomed when we visited. Please pass this on to your staff and also let them know that all Mum’s visitors said what a lovely, happy Home Aronel is.

I just wanted to say thank you to you both for your quizzes and garden club. Mum enjoyed them both very much and used to get very cross if for any reason she missed them.

It really helped to keep her mind active and stimulated when her body was less capable.

Please know what you do is so worthwhile and all families of residence should be as grateful to you as Mum’s family are. Although we are so sad now and think of her all the time. I shall think of the flowers she planted with you recently and know she will be smiling when they bloom in the Spring.

She was so well looked after in her third year of being with you and your staff; warm, clean, beautifully dressed, excellent food, excellent housekeeping and laundry service, constant attention etc, and we were treated with the upmost respect on every visit by all staff.

Your staff were always kind to her and careful to enable her to retain her dignity.
